lofty goals
Feb 24, 2008 at 09:02PM You might be thinking, Gina, Gina, enough about the celebrity high-fives already we know you're on that quest just stop rubbing it in our faces it's already easily accessible right there in the side bar, but oh, oh, what's that...is that, a new addition, to the...? Yeah, yes, I believe it is.
Unfortunately for you dear reader that's not the only goal of mine I'll be covering in tonight's lecture, post, lectost (that might be the latin word for it).
In my absence of writing on this blog, you see, I've been spending the majority of my spare moments not writing on this blog and rather reading a book written by Stephen King about writing titled On Writing. With any luck that last sentence was a bit of a mind bender. The moral of this meandering is that one of my '08 personal goals will be to focus more energy on focused writing of the story-telling kind, not to be confused with writing of the fairy-tailing kind, but I will still be here to ramble on in random tangents, lagniappes, tangiappes. Hybrid words are so 2008. If I've leaned anything from the esteemed Mr. King the rambling random tangents might not be where I want to go with the serious* writing.
While sifting through the final pages of On Writing in a peculiarly vacant rush-hour subway ride I carefully closed the book, stepped off the train and resolved; I will not rest until I'm re-reading the book I wrote about writing, while snacking on a freshly penned manuscript and drinking from a cup paper-mached of the pages of my last bestselling paperback! So help me Stephen King, I. Will. Not. Rest.
Goodnight.
*the above mentioned writing is only to be serious in a seriously focused on writing kind of way, not that I intend to write of or about serious things kind of way.
