    wicked witch of the westside

Its quite possible that this goes without saying, but I like to make a point of saying what goes without saying, perhaps to be obnoxious, that will be up to you, reader.  I would wager to say, thought, that any New Yorker (that's right I'm calling myself that now) would have some sort of philosophy, clever quip, or something that ends in an "ism" related to their feelings on the MTA subway system.  To keep this story topical for all of those who are not New Yorkers, have never been to New York or any other city for that matter, or have been residing in a box, the subway is a magical underground transport system.

Of late, which is to say as of the last two years that I've been here, one of my favorite occurrences in the sub-world happens when the trains of the underworld align and in a less cosmic sounding and more literal sense run side-by-side in the tunnels after leaving the station so you get creepy glimpses of the people in the train running next to you.  This occurrence always and forever will remind me of the scene from the Wizard of Oz when the twister comes and Dorothy gets knocked the eff out then sees a montage of people floating outside the window, including that canoing guy twice and concluding with the Wicked Witch on the bicycle, laughing manically in her wicked wicked cackle.

Ok now I challenge you to get into that situation on the subway and think anything else.*

I'm going to go watch it now with the sound turned down and the pink floyd turned UP!

    (rainy sudnay)

*May have same effect on other metropolitan underground rail systems.

    Yes!

I love that creepy situation! (Maybe because I'm creepy).

But anyway, I always thought that should be a scene in a movie. Maybe a dude is getting stalked by someone, then one day he looks up and that person is staring at him from the other subway car. It could be like an outtake from Eyes Wide Shut or something.
